The View Tackles Natural Hair
A Few points mentioned I happened to jot down... * Whoopi Goldberg: Its not the issue of the weave so much as the texture. Why are weaves always long and flowing? To answer her questions the ladies suggested versatility of styling. Sherri Shepherd admitted the obvious, growing up she idealized the Brady Bunch, and wanted hair like them! She explained she also likes flipping her hair. Back in the day before Whoppi, Joy Behar was my favorite member of The View. Joy said its all about having the RIGHT hair, and Afro-hair is not it. She continues that Michelle Obama should go NATURAL. Sheri adds, Michelle Obama is natural...oh you mean natural as in afro-textured hair. Duh Sherri Shepherd made me so angry by saying that people with afro-textured hair do not get hired for jobs. THIS IS THE BIGGEST NATURAL HAIR MYTH EVER. Maybe a few years ago, but if you are qualified and have a well maintained hair style whether it be locs or a ‘fro, they are going to snatch you up!! Let me say this, there are some jobs that you will not get hired because you’re Black, Gay, Short, Fat, Natural, whatever...but is that the job you really want?! Do you really want people that judge your hair as part of your qualifications to employ you? Should you constantly change yourself to fit in with the Joneses? Where does it stop to make a certain type of employer happy? Can Black people really assimilate? Ugh! Don’t get me started yal
THANKS WHOPPI FOR REPRESENTIN’ FOR US NATURALS!! The Natural Hair Definition BTW-- I looked up Natural in my Webster dictionary and it states: “...by birth, according to nature”

It really bothers me that people are pulling their wigs off, revealing relaxed hair and calling it natural. Since when is hair that has been chemically altered natural?

the main thing that annoyed me about that conversation was the 'natural' hair definition, especially when they were talking about Mrs Obama and Miss Banks. its very obvious to anyone of color that relaxed hair is not our natural texture.
Also the versatility argument is a very weak and uneducated point. i think if any of those women would spend 5 minutes on this site they would see that having natural afro hair is properly more versatile than most (if not all) other hair textures. written by Adlyn, November 02, 2009
I looked up nature in Webster's 1828 dictionary, this is good:
NATURAL, a: 1. Pertaining to nature; produced or effected by nature, or by the laws of growth, formation or motion impressed on bodies or beings by divine power. 2. According to the stated course of things. 3. Unaffected; unassumed; according to truth and reality. ******** Now that's a definition!

The hype continues. Thanks Candi for letting me know that even ABC’s day time talk-show, “The View” tackled the issue of Natural Hair thanks to Tyra’s “unveiling” of her not so natural hair.
If you didn’t catch the episode, check out the

Whoppi pointed out that she has been natural for 30+ years the psyche has not shifted. Again she asked, WHY don’t more Black women get Afro-textured weaves.
